Educator, researcher, administrator, accreditation
expert
Experience:
Tina Beer began her career as a member of the history department’s faculty,
at Clemson University, and subsequently at Rollins College. While at Rollins,
she joined administration, serving as registrar and then as dean of the Evening
Division, which offered courses to degree-seeking, non-traditional students.
Later, she bought and headed a private secondary school, and then became the
registrar and later dean of liberal arts at Ringling School of Art and Design,
where she was responsible for developing the college’s first-ever Liberal
Arts Program. Most recently, she was the director of reaccreditation charged
with assembling student flow, assessment and comparative statistics, researching,
writing, documenting, and developing websites for Ringling School’s self-studies
for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and for the National Association
of Schools of Art and Design, in 2005 and 2006 respectively. Tina has her Ph.D.
and M.A. in History from Vanderbilt University and B.A. in History from St. Lawrence
University.
Current Projects:
Tina is teaching history full-time at Ringling School and writing a history of
the School. She will retire from college teaching at the end of 2006 and work
as a consultant on special projects in accreditation and assessment.
Insights into Tina:
Tina has an analytical mind and excels at developing solutions for administrative
and nautical challenges. Her passion is sailing with her husband Don on their
35-foot sailboat in the Abacos, Exumas, and elsewhere in the Bahamas, as well
as all around Florida.
