NANCY
ROUCHER
Arts educator, community organizer, writer
Experience:
Nancy Roucher is an arts education consultant with an extensive background in
community arts programming, management, and assessment. For 12 years she served
as co-director of the Florida Institute for Art Education, one of six programs
nationwide to help individual school districts implement comprehensive arts education,
with funding from the Getty Education Institute for the Arts. Her specialties
are developing curriculum and designing professional development programs. She
was instrumental in creating a nationally acclaimed community/school partnership
and she is recognized for creative collaborations and community engagement. A
journalist and public relations professional, she has authored many magazine
articles and a children’s book. Nancy has her M.A. in Aesthetic Education
from the University of Illinois and B.J. in Journalism from the University of
Missouri.
Current Projects:
Nancy is interim executive director for the Sarasota County Arts Council and
is focusing on outreach initiatives to put the arts into the mainstream of the
community. She is working on a project to expand the county’s public art
program, as well other education initiatives.
Insights into Nancy:
Nancy enjoys the challenge of making things happen and likes to connect people.
She enjoys reading, going to museums, galleries, and theater, and being with
her five grandchildren.
