Experience:
Nancy K. Schlossberg, a counseling psychologist, and author of nine books, is
frequently quoted in the popular press about mid-life and aging, transitions,
and coping. She is co-president of the consulting firm, TransionWorks, professor
emerita, University of Maryland, College Park, and served as president of the
National Career Development Association. The Transition Coping Guide that Nancy
co-developed helps people understand change and deal with it appropriately and
effectively. She has been honored for her work by the American Counseling Association
and the American Psychological Association where she is a fellow in three divisions.
Nancy has her Ed.D. in Guidance and Student Personnel from Teachers College at
Columbia and B.A. in Sociology from Barnard College.
Current Projects:
Nancy is writing a second book on the psychological aspects related to retirement,
for the American Psychological Association. She speaks about transitions and
the retirement transition throughout country (as long as the trip does not require
three planes to get there).
Insights into Nancy:
Becoming grandparents to Jenny (age one) and Robin (age three) has provided Nancy
and her husband Steve with new joy. Nancy thrives on the challenges and rewards
of being part of two communities-Sarasota and Washington, DC.
